Guadalupe Urivez, age 89 passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital. The daughter of the late Jose Maria and Barbara Perez, Guadalupe was born September 25, 1929 in Taylor, Texas. She married Hijinio Urivez on July 6, 1946 in Texas and they moved to Saginaw in 1950. He preceded her in death on August 10, 2000.
Mrs. Urivez was a loving spouse and homemaker who raised 14 children. She was a devout Catholic, longtime member of Damas De Guadalupe and completed her Cru siesta. She was the owner of “Urivez Imports”, loved to travel and visit family, enjoyed sewing, crocheting and gardening.
She is survived by 10 children, Oscar (Cheryl) Urivez, Oswald (Kerri) Urivez, Mary Theresa Urivez, Osmondo (Ysabel) Urivez, Francisco Urivez, Gloria (John) Flores, Rachel (Jose) DeLa Cruz, Jose Manuel Urivez, Hijinio B. (Christina) Urivez Jr., and Michael (Teresa) Urivez; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Guadalupe was preceded in death by 4 children, Ernestine Luna, Omero Urivez, Juan Urivez, and Margarita Urivez; and by her siblings, Manuel Perez, Herberto Perez, Anita Garcia, Ernesto Perez, Ernestina Perez, and Jose Maria Perez.
Mrs. Urivez was the oldest of 5 generations of living relatives.
Funeral Service will take place on Monday September 9, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St, Mary’s Cathedral with Rev. Fr. Joseph Schabel officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at Cederberg-Brietzke Funeral Home, 403 N. Michigan Ave. in Saginaw on Saturday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.m. and on Sunday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. SR. Yvonne Mary will lead a scripture service 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
