Henry Messner, age 89 of Saginaw passed away December 21, 23018 at home. The son of the late Frank and Katherine (Barth) Messner, Henry was born September 11, 1929 in Saginaw. He served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict aboard the U.S.S. Perry and U.S.S. Arcadia. Following his honorable discharge in 1957, Henry returned to Saginaw and was employed by Frito-Lay Potato Chip Company and later was employed at Saginaw Steering Gear until his retirement in 1991.
Mr. Messner married the former Ruby Jesse February 3, 1951 in Saginaw and she preceded him in death on May 19, 2012. He was a member of the American Legion Post 439 in Saginaw.
Surviving are 3 sons, Joseph (Becky Parsons) Messner, Lyle (Tina) Messner, and Allen (Beth Ann) Messner; 7 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Henry Messner Jr.
Funeral Service will take place 1:00 p.m. Thursday January 3, 2019 at Cederberg-Brietzke Funeral Home, 403 N. Michigan Ave. in Saginaw. Entombment will follow at Oakwood Mausoleum with full military honors accorded by American Legion Post 439. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Thursday January 3, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. until time of service.
