Maria Y. Torrez, age 68 of Saginaw was called away to the Lord August 10, 2018 at Covenant Healthcare with family by her side.

The daughter of the late Manuel and Remedios Torrez, Maria was born July 17, 1950 in Saginaw.  She retired from Kroger’s in 2017 where she worked for years and was loved by many of her co-workers and customers.  She loved going to Bingo and playing her games.

Maria is survived by her brother, Arturo (Elvia) Torrez; Her children, Oscar (Brenda) Landin, Maria Landin, Esperanza Landin, Venassa (Sam) Landin, Juanita Fitchett, and Rudolpho Fitchett Jr.; 20 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; her sisters-in-law, Margaret Torrez, Olga Rodriguez; and her best friend and sister-in-law Orelia Torrez.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Augustine Rodriguez; her brothers, Mario and Manuel Torrez; a grandson, DeQuaris Essex; and great-grandson, Marcello Landin.

Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 17th at Cederberg-Brietzke Funeral Home, 403 N. Michigan Ave. in Saginaw with Pastor Vince McMillon officiating.  Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
