Andrea Herbolsheimer Obituary

Andrea Kay Herbolsheimer, 74, of King George, VA passed away on December 8, 2023.

Andie possessed a servant’s heart and found fulfillment working alongside her husband, Rev. James Herbolsheimer, within the Lutheran faith.

Andie studied nursing at Harper Hospital in Detroit, Michigan where she earned her LPN and worked at Mount Sinai Hospital serving on the staff of Dr. Adrian Kantrowitz, who performed the first heart transplant in the United States.  She continued her education culminating in her degree as a registered nurse.  Her dedication to her family and faith allowed her to serve many people in many communities.  Andie loved living in and serving the communities of St. Louis, MO, Lowell, MI, Stratford Ontario, Waupun, WI, and Cleveland, OH.   With a career spanning 40+ years in healthcare, Andie exhibited a remarkable talent for selflessly serving others.

One of Andie’s main loves and sources of joy was her son Christopher.  During their time in Canada, Chris’s interest turned to hockey, as did Andie’s.  Andie was the most amazing and dedicated hockey mom from which she gained much fulfillment. She often prepared an entire Thanksgiving meal in a hotel room while cheering on the team.  She was the best hockey mom ever!

Once Christopher had children of his own, Andie’s love expanded along with her family to King George VA.  She was never happier than in the presence of her grandchildren Bre, Cam and Colton.  You could always find Andie cheering them on at various sporting and extra-curricular events.  Andie was the ultimate caregiver; having provided extensive care to her mother Katie, husband Jim, and countless other family members. Andie’s infectious laugh was recognized by everyone who knew her.   She was a leader within her family and lent her heartfelt advice to anyone in need.

In addition to her loving husband, Andie is preceded in death by her parents, Ernie & Katie Barna, brother-in-law Phillip Herbolsheimer, and nephew Seth Gelbaugh. Survivors include her son, Christopher; grandchildren, Breana, Cameron, and Colton; sister, Jody Barna; brother, Ernie Barna; sister-in-law Peggy Herbolsheimer; brothers-in-law David (Nancy) and John (Kimberly); nieces, Melissa Gelbaugh, Susan Meier, Jenni Stuart, Becki Buetow, and Alison Barna; nephews, Scott Herbolsheimer, Adam Gelbaugh, Brian Herbolsheimer, Michael Herbolsheimer and Dru Barna.
