Daniel Ortiz, age 71 of Bay City, passed away March 23, 2025, at Covenant Medical Healthcare. Son of the late Manuel and Macaria Ortiz, Daniel was born January 3, 1954, in Saginaw. He married Maria Refugio Garcia on November 11, 2011, and she survives him.

Daniel was employed as an auto mechanic for years. He also worked for General Motors, Home Depot, and was currently employed by Walmart in Bay City.

He enjoyed attending Shalom Assembly of God Church with his wife, Maria. Daniel also liked singing Karaoke, playing Trumpet with a band years ago, and listening to Gospel Music. And who could forget that his favorite meal had to include eggs.

He is survived by his wife, Maria, 3 children, Miguel Garcia, Daniel Ortiz Jr., and Juan (Felicia) Ortiz, 26 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren, 2 siblings, Manuel Ortiz and Mary Lou (David) Garcia , 6 step-children, Jennifer (Alfredo) Garcia, Antonio (Estefana) Garcia, Guadalupe (Thomas) Bignall, Jorge Jimenez, Mario Jimenez Garcia, and Loraine (Joseph) Garcia, 13 step grandchildren and 6 step great-grandchildren.

Daniel was preceded in death by 8 siblings, William, Armondo, Maria DeJesus, Robert, Jimmie, Johnny, Richard, Jesse Ortiz, and 1 stepson, also preceded him, Omar Jimenez.

Funeral Service will take place at 2:00 p.m. Friday April 4, 2025 at Cederberg-Brietzke Funeral Home, 403 N. Michigan Ave in Saginaw. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Friday from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at 2;00 p.m.

Interment will take place at Mt. Olivet Cemetery at a later date.
