Domingo Vasquez Jr. passed away Friday September 25, 2020 in West Bloomfield, Michigan after a brief illness, at the age of 70 years. He was born May 22, 1950 in San Antonio, Texas to Domingo Soriano and Janet (Garcia) Vasquez Sr. Domingo moved to Saginaw with his parents in the late 1950’s.
Domingo enlisted with the United States Marine Corp for 2 years beginning in 1967 and was a rifle sharpshooter in Vietnam for 1 year prior to his honorable discharge in 1969. Domingo had a love for music, and he sang and played with bands that entertained throughout Michigan for several years prior to his retirement. Domingo was of the catholic faith.
Surviving are his companion, Debbie DeMeyere; 8 children, Domingo Vasquez III, Daniel T. Vasquez, Carlos Rosales, Mateo Ortego, Vicente Vasquez,Veronica Vasquez, Christopher Rosales, and Vicente F. Vasquez; his mother, Janet Vasquez Mejia; siblings, Juvencio Carranza, Tony Carranza, Debra Arredondo, David (Connie) Vasquez, Donna (Scott Robberson) Jorgenson, and Dorothy (Benito III) Arce; many grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Domingo Vasquez, Sr; a son, Alejandro Ortega; and a sister, Rachel Vasquez.
Funeral Service will take place at 6:00 p.m. Saturday at Cederberg-Brietzke Funeral Home, 403 N. Michigan Ave., in Saginaw with Rev. Fr. Jack Johnson officiating. Interment will be next week at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.
Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until time of service at 6:00 p.m.
In accordance with the state mandate ordinance, social distancing will be observed, and number gathered.
