James P. Butler, age 62 of Saginaw, Michigan passed away July 8, 2019 at Carriage House of Bay City after an extended illness. The son of the late James and Dorothy (Eurick) Butler, James was born January 29, 1957 in Saginaw. Mr. Butler was employed as a technician in the auto body repair business prior to his retirement due to ill health. James had a great love for his grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son Doug, attending and watching Indy Car auto races, and as a handyman,he enjoyed working on projects that needed to be done.
Surviving are his children, Douglas (Crystal) Butler of Sunnyvale, Texas, and Katie (John) Torrez of Millington; 5 grandchildren, Olivia, Grant and Evan Butler, Odessa and Mariano Torrez; 1 brother and 2 sisters, Tim Butler, Sue Riedlinger, and Pat (Curt) Bosar; and nieces, nephews and other close family friends also survive him.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Butler and 2 nieces Stacey Riedlinger and Dawn Nettles.
Mr. Butler was able to help others through the Gift of Sight by donating his corneas.
A Memorial Service will take place 6:00 p.m. Friday at Cederberg-Brietzke Funeral Home, 403 N. Michigan ave. in Saginaw with Rev. Dr. James Walling officiating. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until time of service.
