James W. Lindstrom, age 94 of Saginaw passed away May 7, 2020 at Covenant Healthcare following an extended illness. Son of the late Fred and Harriet Lindstrom, James was born June 10, 1925. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943 – 1946 with the Anti-Tank Co. of the 182nd Infantry Division in the South Pacific Theater of Operations. He married the former Lorraine Golden on May 31, 1952 in Saginaw. She preceded him in death on October 14, 2017. James was a member of Warren Ave. Presbyterian Church, Masonic Lodge of Saginaw, and the Saginaw Chapter of Disabled American Veterans. James enjoyed being with his family, traveling with his wife, especially trips to Canada, meeting people, making new friends, and taking care of his yard. He was employed as a Signal Supervisor with CSX Railroad and retired after 30 years of service.
Surviving are four children, Phillip (Laura) Lindstrom, Sandra Lindstrom, Jon Lindstrom, and Scott Lindstrom; five grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, James was also preceded in death by a son, James W. Lindstrom Jr. in 1998, a daughter in law Renee Lindstrom in 2018, and his brother, Richard Lindstrom in 2019
Funeral Services will take place 11:00 a.m. Monday at Cederberg & Brietzke Funeral Home, 403 N. Michigan Ave. in Saginaw. Full military honors will be accorded by the U.S. Army and VFW Post 1859. Visitation will be Sunday at the funeral home. Interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Memorials in his memory may be made to Saginaw Rescue Mission at 1021 Burt St., Saginaw, Michigan 48607.
