Javier “B.B.” Cantu, age 62 of Saginaw passed away suddenly, July 14, 2019 from an apparent heart attack. B.B. was born April 11, 1957 in Harlingen, Texas and moved to Saginaw as a child with his parents. He later moved back to Houston, Texas where he was employed in glass manufacturing for several years. B.B. returned to Saginaw in 1990. He was great as a handyman and helped friends and neighbors with things that needed fixing or repairing. He also enjoyed playing pool.
Surviving are his mother, Maria Cantu; 6 siblings, Benito (Sylvia) Cantu, Lou Cantu, Aurora Barron, Ignacio (Kim) Cantu III, Alicia (Dan) Duval, and Marta (Chris) Sanchez; 1 brother-in-law, Robert Renteria; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews including great-niece Noelle; and aunts and uncles also survive.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ignacio Cantu II on May 7, 2019; by a sister, Juanita Renteria; and nephew, Benito Ignacio Cantu in 2018.
Funeral Service will take place 4:00 p.m. Thursday at Cederberg-Brietzke Funeral Home, 403 N. Michigan Ave. in Saginaw with Rev. Fr. Joseph Schabel officiating. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service. Interment will be private at a later date.
