Jose Luis Garcia, age 87 of Saginaw passed away December 20, 2020 at Ascension St Mary’s Hospital.  Jose was born July 23, 1933 in Monterrey NL, Mexico to the late Antonio and Del Refugio (Veliz) Garcia.

He was raised in Harlingen, Texas.  He later moved to Saginaw, Michigan where he met and married Mary Teresa Martinez.  They were married for 69 years prior to his death. 

In addition to his wife, Jose is survived by his children, Sally (Rodolfo) Ochoa, Joseph (Silvia) Garcia, Susan Martinez, Elizabeth Garcia, Margaret Nunez, Isaac (Mary) Garcia, Irene Garcia, David (Mary Lou) Garcia, Jesse James Martinez, and Juan, Greg, and Jeff Garcia; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; 2 sisters, Guadalupe Veliz Hernandez, and Maricela Garcia; a brother, Juan Ramon Garcia of Mexico and a very special brother, Arturo (Minnie) Rosales.

Joe was a music legend to his family and friends.  To his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he will forever be their “Tata” Joe.  He loved family get togethers and fishing.  Joe loved his accordion music and that talent he leaves to his grandsons. But most of all, he loved and adored his wife and best friend Mary.

Dad you will truly be missed, and you will live in our hearts forever. R.I.H.

Private visitation and service will be Tuesday January 19, 2021 at Cederberg-Brietzke Funeral Home in Saginaw.
