Buendia, Laura
Saginaw, Michigan
Our sweet Laura, age 24, was welcomed home into the loving arms of our Heavenly Father, alongside her beloved nephew Mariano and cousin Rafael, on Sunday June 5th, 2022. The Lord graciously gifted us with her presence on May 26th, 1998, born in Saginaw, Michigan to Manuel and Juana Amelia Buendia.
She was a gentle, loving, and humble young woman. She was known as a peacemaker and genuinely wanted the best for everyone. Her compassionate spirit made all who had the honor of knowing her feel deeply loved and valued.
Laura had a warm heart and often expressed that through baking. Everything she created was made with an abundance of love. She studied at the Culinary Institute of Michigan where she was involved in several competitions, earning a bronze medal in commercial baking, and taking home a gold medal the following year. She graduated from the institute in 2018 and continued to pursue her baking career. Her family loved getting to sneak into the kitchen when Laura was whipping up another sweet creation. With a family as big as hers, she knew how to keep a smile on each of their faces.
She utilized her passions and gifts to empower those around her. Laura always encouraged others to love themselves and was ready to lend a helping hand. She was a great listener, gave thoughtful advice and would never turn her back on family or a friend in need. To make Laura happy, all they needed were some pickles, sal con limon (lemon salt), sushi or boba. She also loved Stitch and Baby Yoda but found the most joy by simply being in the presence of her dear family, especially her mom and dad.
Laura will be remembered for her silliness and pure innocent smile that would light up a room. She was so excited to be a first-time mommy and eager to shower her baby with love. Her legacy will live on as her family, friends and fiance care for the special piece of herself she left with them. Miracle baby Rosalina will know how beautiful and precious her mommy was and will have her daddy and furbrother, Diego, to give her all the love that Laura gave to them.
She is survived by her daughter Rosalina Buendia Tello, parents Manuel & Juana Amelia Buendia, fiance Joshua Tello, sisters Veronica (Magdaleno) Escareño, Sandra (Eliberto) Escareño, brother Mauricio (Gladis) Buendia, nieces Vanessa, Marissa, Lilliana, Aaliyah, Sanelly, nephews Mauricio Jr. (Wichito) and Isaiah (Papas), aunts Azaneth (Tomas) Galindo, Maria Anita (Marcos) Esparza, Elizabeth (Oracio) Licea, uncles Ivan (Elizabeth) Galindo and Jose (Sandra) Galindo, many close cousins and her furbaby Diego, all who loved her dearly.
She was predeceased by her grandmothers Pola Esiquio Buendia and Maria Teresa Campos Galindo, and brother Abraham Buendia.
Laura will be dearly missed by her family and friends, but her great legacy of sacrificial love, gentleness, and loyalty will live on in their hearts forever. As her grandma would say “I love you, but Jesus loves you more.” This is not a goodbye, but a see you soon as her loved ones anticipate the day they can reunite and embrace her in their arms once again.
A Life Celebration will be held at 6:00 P.M. Sunday June 12th, at the Cederberg Brietzke Funeral Home, 403 N. Michigan Ave, Saginaw MI, with Pastor Mary Garcia officiating the family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 12:00 P.M. until time of service.
