Lawrence M. Jerman of Hemlock, Michigan passed away September 14, 2024, at the age of 69 years, at home, with his wife Carol and his son Brandon at his side, after an extended illness with Amyloidosis Disease. Son of the late Leroy and Robena Jerman, Larry was born July 14, 1955, at Niagara Falls, New York. At the age of 3 Larry moved to Ringwood, New Jersey where he grew up and attended high school at Lakewood High School in Ringwood and graduated in 1973. In 1974 Larry enlisted with the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Wurtsmith Air Force Base in Oscoda, Michigan until his Honorable Discharge in 1978. Larry also attended SVSU and graduated in 1989 where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
Larry was married to the former Carol A. Hatfield on July 25, 1977, in East Tawas, Michigan. They moved to Saginaw where Larry was employed by the United States Postal Service as an Expeditor until his retirement in 2013. He also served as Union President for many years. According to friends and acquaintances of Larry he always treated people with kindness and respect, that was his nature and will truly be missed by all.
Larry was a member of the Saginaw YMCA for over 20 years. He was in charge of the Hemlock-Merrill Golf League at Crooked Creek Golf Course for many years and enjoyed playing golf, basketball, racquetball, pickleball, and snow skiing. When his son Brandon was younger growing up he coached baseball and soccer and sometimes coached other teams. Larry complained but always helped his wife Carol load and unload the hundreds of flowers that she bought and planted every year.
Surviving is his wife, Carol, his son Brandon (Ashley) Jerman; 2 grandchildren who were absolutely everything to him his grandson Kole and granddaughter Hadley Jerman, his siblings, Ron (Maurene) Jerman, Jeff (Lisa) Jerman, Andy (Sue) Jerman, Amy (/Frank) Umansky, Todd (Linda) Jerman, and Tim Jerman, his brother-in law Randy Scales, brother-in-law David (Lori) Hatfield and several nieces and nephews, and his very close friends also survive.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents and his sister-in-law Nancy Scales on August 27, of this year.
A private Celebration of Life Service will take place.
