Lydia Lopez of Saginaw went to be with the Lord on Easter Sunday April 12, 2020 at Covenant Cooper Medical Center at the age of 63 years. Lydia was born June 18, 1956 in Saginaw to Amado and Leandra (Zuniga) Zapata. She married Juan Lopez in Saginaw on April 21, 1990 and he survives her. Lydia worked at Jacobson’s for 11 years, and Samaritas (formerly known as Luther Manor) for 19 years. Lydia was a hardworking, loyal, loving friend, sister, aunt, wife, and mother who was willing help everyone especially the residents at the nursing home she worked at. She enjoyed sitting on her porch, listening to her favorite Mexican music (she loved Mazz), catching up with old friends, going to the casino with her daughter Priscilla and sister Gloria, and going to breakfast with her nephew Dave and brother Sam.
She is survived by her husband of 29 years Juan Lopez; her daughter, Priscilla Zapata; her brother, Samuel Zapata her sister, Gloria (Ricardo) Delgado; nephews, and nieces David Castillo, Carolynn Benavides, Luis (Bianca) Rivera, Alexandra (Santos) Cruz, Alicia Medina, and Samuel Zapata Jr, great nephews Luis III, Deondre, Santos Jr, Lorenzo, and Anthony; her special friend of many years Mary Silvia and her work sisters Evelyn Sutton and Yvonne Macon.
Lydia was a wonderful woman and will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
Memorial Service will take place 4:00 p.m. Wednesday September 30, 2020 at Cederberg-Brietzke Funeral Home, 403 N. Michigan Ave. in Saginaw. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. until time of service.
