Marilyn F. Koenemann, age 86 of Freeland passed away February 8, 2021 at Charter Senior Living in Bay City. The daughter of the late William Earl and Marion (Johnson) Freebairn, Marilyn was born October 12, 1934 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was a 1952 graduate of East High School in Salt Lake City and was a graduate of Holy Cross School of Nursing in 1955. Marilyn joined the Navy Nurse Corp in 1955 and was stationed at Bethesda, MD until her honorable discharge in 1957. She married Robert Charles Koenemann in Salt Lake City, Utah and he preceded her in death on April 28, 2020.
Marilyn was employed by Saginaw General Hospital and at Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey prior to her retirement. She had served as a Sunday School teacher, Den Mother, and was Camp Nurse for Boy Scouts, and a Custom Seamstress. She was a dear wife and loving mother.
Surviving are 2 sons, Robin Victor (Beth) Koenemann and William Brent (Michele) Koenemann both living in California; 2 daughters, Kristine (James) Kasper of Saginaw and Michele (Thomas) Budd of Naples, Florida; 8 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Karen Freebairn Elder in 1991.
Interment next to her husband will take place February 17, 2021 at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
