Mary Theresa Martinez Garcia

Mary Teresa Martinez Garcia peacefully transitioned into eternal rest on February 6, 2024, at the age of 87 years old. She was born on May 16, 1936, in San Antonio, Texas to Lucio and Anita (Godina) Martinez. Mary was united in Holy Matrimony with Jose Luis Garcia on April 14, 1952. To this union, 9 children were born. She gave her life to the Lord Jesus Christ and was faithful in her walk with him. Mary lived for her children, they were the loves of her life. She loved her Mexican music, enjoyed dancing and made sure that all her children and grandchildren knew how to dance. She enjoyed spending time with her sons and daughters. She had a special bond with each and every one of them. She leaves behind to celebrate her legacy her beloved children Sally (Rudy) Ochoa, Susan (Suzy) Martinez, Joseph (Sylvia) Garcia, Elizabeth Funez, Margaret Nunez, Irene (Geronimo) Negrete (of Florida), Isaac (Mary) Garcia, David (Mary Lou) Garcia, Jeff (Lisa) Garcia, and John Garcia all of Saginaw, Mi, Greg Vargas of San Antonio Texas, a special brother in law Art (Minnie) Rosales, 41 grandchildren and many, many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years Jose Luis Garcia, parents Lucio and Anita (Godina) Martinez, 4 brothers Mercedez Martinez, Juan Martinez, Jose Martinez, Benjamin Martinez, 3 sisters Janie Martinez, Lucy Levario and Ofelia Santoya also known as “the Black Diamonds”, 3 granddaughters Latisha Martinez, Lisa Garcia, and Martina Garcia. The family wishes to express special thanks to all who devoted and showed so much love to her in this lifetime here on earth as we know she was loved by many.

The Funeral Service will take place on Friday February 16th, 2024, at Cederberg & Brietzke Funeral Home located at 403 N. Michigan Ave at 2:00pm. Officiating will be Pastors Isaac and Maria Garcia of King of Kings Ministries. Friends may visit with the family from 12:00 p.m. until time of Service at 2:00 P.M on Friday at the funeral home.
