Patrick “Rick” Stainsby
Saginaw, Michigan & Augres, Michigan
Patrick “Rick” Stainsby, of Saginaw and Au Gres, Michigan, passed away suddenly at home on September 2, 2026, just four days shy of his 68th birthday.
Rick was born September 6, 1958, in Gardner, Kansas, to Patrick W. and Annette Stainsby. He moved with his family to Detroit at a young age and later to Saginaw, Michigan. He graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1976. Rick married Norma Crandall on January 23, 2015, in Saginaw.
Rick spent much of his career with Koerts Glass, later becoming the owner of Flint Glass Service, where he remained until his retirement in 2024.
Rick loved traveling, deer hunting, boating on Lake Huron, pontoon trips to Charity Island, and spending weekends up north. In earlier years, DeTour was his favorite getaway, and more recently, Au Gres became his home away from home. He was a loyal, and sometimes painfully loyal, Detroit Lions fan, enjoyed watching the Tigers, and spending time with friends at the local pubs. Above all, he loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren.
Rick is survived by his wife, Norma; his children, Nathan (Kristina) Stainsby of Saginaw and Megan (Marcus) Ossana of Freeland, whom he raised with his former wife, Michelle VanHorn; his five grandchildren, Kailey, Hannah, Autumn, Jaiden, and Nolan; his father, Patrick W. Stainsby; his brother, Ross (Susan) Stainsby; his sister, Lynne Stainsby; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Annette Stainsby.
In true Rick fashion, there is no need to get too dressed up. Friends and family are encouraged to wear Detroit Lions apparel if they would like, consider it one last game day with Rick.
A memorial service will take place at 3:00 p.m. Friday, September 11, 2026, at Cederberg-Brietzke Funeral Home, 403 N. Michigan Ave., Saginaw, with Rev. Charles Campbell officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
