Raphael Melchor Sr. of Saginaw passed away on December 20, 2016 at Covenant Healthcare following and extended illness at the age of 74 years. The son of the late Manuel and Dolores Melchor, Raphael was born December 13, 1942 in Saginaw.  He married Sandra Fisher on September 5, 1970 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Saginaw.

 He was employed by CSX Railroad for 34 years prior to his retirement.  Raphael was member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Parish, and where he served as an usher.  He was a Third Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council of Saginaw.  He enjoyed fishing, dancing to Mexican music and spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife, Sandra; 3 children, Loretta Levario, Lydia Villanova, and Raphael Melchor Jr.; 12 grandchildren; 4 brothers, Samuel (Maria) Melchor, Manuel (Eve) Melchor, Arthur Melchor and Antonio Melchor; and 3 sisters, Helen (Fernando) Cisneros, Juanita Jones, and Beatrice Cruz.  He was preceded in death by 2 grandchildren.

Funeral Service will take place 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 27, at St Francis of Assisi Parish, 3680 S. Washington Road with Rev. Fr. Tom Schmied officiating.  Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery.  Friends may visit with the family at Cederberg-Brietzke Funeral Home, 403 N. Michigan Ave. on Monday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Fr. Schmied will recite the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.  Memorials can be made to the family.
