Robert Charles Koenemann of Saginaw Township passed away April 28, 2020 at McLaren Bay Regional Hospital, at the age of 85 years. Robert was born September 10, 1934 to Edward E. And Virginia (Wilson Males) Koenemann in Evansville, Indiana. He graduated from Bosse High School and Indiana University. He was an all-American Soccer player for Indiana University. Robert served in the Marine Reserve, U.S. Navy, and was a Korean War Veteran, and Corpsman. He married Marilyn Freebairn, in Salt Lake City Utah and she survives him. When Robert lived in Indianapolis, IN. he worked for Indianapolis Varnish Co. as a commercial paint formulator, he was also residential Manager for Culligan in Allegan, MI. In 1970 he joined Sears Commercial Sales until 1984. He moved to Rogers City where he became Store Manager at Vogelheim Lumber Co. Sales until retiring in 1997. He was active in The American Red Cross, Boy Scouts, Big-Brothers/Big Sisters, Rotary Club, American Legion, Eagle Scouts, Life Saving Instructor and a First Aid Instructor. He was also district executive of Boy Scouts of America in Alma, Cass City and Saginaw, Michigan, where he was also program director for the Boy Scouts of America Council.
Robert is survived by his wife Marilyn; 2 sons, Robin Victor (Beth) Koenemann and William Brent (Michele) Koenemann both living in California; 2 daughters, Kristine (James) Kasper of Saginaw, Michele (Thomas) Budd of Florida; 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; and one brother Edward (Dona) Koenemann of Vermont.
Robert was predeceased by his parents
Per Robert’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Private interment service will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery at a future date.
