Ruben Martinez, age 28 of Saginaw passed away unexpectedly October 18, 2022. “Lil Roob” was born in Saginaw to Rachel Neitzelt Martinez and Ruben Maldonado Sr. on September 24, 1994, and was raised by his loving grandparents Henry and Margaret Martinez.

He is survived by his mother, Rachel Martinez, grandparents Henry and Margaret Martinez, grandmother Celia Acosta, 2 siblings, Olivia Martinez, and Henry P. Martinez. He also leaves behind his daughters, Aaliyah (Verna) and Aricela (Rosie) Castillo, nieces, Ameena (Janessa) Frazier and Acelia, a nephew, Antonio Martinez; 4 uncles, Reynaldo Maldonado Jr., Antonio and David Neitzelt, and Johnny Arroyo; 2 aunts, Yolanda Maldonado, and Martha Lozano; sister-in-law Marie Martinez, many great aunts, uncles, and cousins and friends, Nate Omar, D’Lo Lopez, Neek Canales, Mark Sanchez, Will Borrero, Santino Garcia, Rose Syed Ruiz, Felicia Ruiz, Motty DelaCruz, and extended family member Obie Hill.

Ruben was known for his love for his daughters, his family, most of all his grandmother Margaret, sister and mother, his female cousins and his loyalty towards his male cousins and closest friends….and his care taking. He loved music, his smile was priceless, his jokes and laughter was our joy.

He was predeceased by his father Ruben Maldonado Sr., his older sister Anjelica Margaret Martinez, special uncle Robert Ruiz, his grandfather Reynaldo Maldonado Sr. and favorite cousin Benito Gomez.

Ruben will be sadly missed and never forgotten, until we all meet again.

Funeral Service will take place 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 29th at Cederberg-Brietzke Funeral Home, 403 N. Michigan Ave. with Pastor Augustine Delgado officiating. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Saturday from 12:00 noon until time of service.
