Shirley Ann Cromwell (Young)

3/31/1944-4/18/2026

Age 82

Prescott, Michigan

Shirley Ann (Young) Cromwell, 82, passed away peacefully in Birch Run, Michigan, on April 18, 2026. Born on March 31, 1944, in Flint, Michigan, she was the cherished daughter of Preston Young and Margaret Kruger.

Shirley dedicated her professional life to her work as a bookkeeper at Clark Construction and Hendricks. Her meticulous nature and dedication to her career were admired by those who worked alongside her. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Shirley’s heart was devoted to her family and the joys of life.

She was a beloved mother to Randy Stephens (Carol), Ricky Stephens (Cheryl), and Heath D. Cromwell. She also held a special place in her heart for her daughter-in-law Angie Shipperley, who, along with Troy Shipperley, provided exceptional care for Shirley in her later years. Shirley’s love extended to her grandchildren—Heath M. Cromwell, Zachery Cromwell, John Stephens, Joshua Stephens, Craig Stephens, Amber Cromwell—and five great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life.

Shirley shared a deep bond with her siblings: brothers David and Floyd (Joe), and sisters Esther and Norma. She was predeceased by her husband and the love of her life, David Cromwell; brothers Tom, Bill, and Lloyd (JoJo); granddaughter Stephanie Crowell; and her parents.

A woman of many passions, Shirley found happiness in the great outdoors. She loved fishing and hunting and cherished time spent walking along the beach or taking her grandchildren out on the boat. Trips to Colorado with family were among her favorite adventures. Shirley also enjoyed visiting casinos—a pastime that brought excitement and fun into her life.

Her warmth, generosity and even her stubbornness touched everyone she met. Shirley will be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend whose love for family was boundless. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her.

May Shirley’s legacy of love for family and nature bring comfort to all who mourn her passing.
